June 25th 2020 is the digital release day of HAYEA’s first album, “Desde mi ventana”.
Band members Claire Alloul and Mauro Basilio recorded this album in April 2020, in a venue on the outskirts of Paris during the lockdown.
Claire Alloul accompanies her singing with the bendir, a percussion instrument from the Middle East and Mauro Basilio plays the oud, an arab lute. Together they revisit the repertoire of traditional Sephardic songs in a rendition inspired by ancient music and jazz. “Desde mi ventana” conveys the beauty and the power of Sephardic music in a modern sound.
